New EEDA Board good for the Region Nov03 |
Bashir
Khanbhai, Conservative MEP for the East of England, believes the
appointment of Richard Ellis as Chairman of the East of England
Development Agency will help make it a "strong catalyst that
energises new as well as existing businesses" in the region. Mr
Ellis will be supported by four newly appointed Directors with substantial
experience of entrepreneurship and labour relations. "I
welcome the appointment of Patricia Holton of Hempnall, Norfolk, who has
been a successful rural entrepreneur and an effective Member of Rural
Action East," says Mr Khanbhai. "John
Snyder of University of Cambridge enterprise team and Tim Wilson, Vice
Chancellor and CEO of Hertfordshire University have been very successful
in establishing enterprises that earn substantial export revenue. Their
expertise will enrich EEDA's board. "Karen
Livingstone from Bedfordshire is the fourth new director appointed and her
experience of labour and employment will complement skills of her
colleagues on the Board." Mr
Khanbhai added: "EEDA must be a strong catalyst that energises new as
well as existing businesses in Eastern Region. I am delighted that the
Board and executive management team reflect a width and depth of
competence and work experience. Such a team will respond quickly and
efficiently to the needs of industry, commerce and new entrepreneurs in
our Region. "I
hope to play my part in securing European Union help for our businesses,
especially in promoting renewable energy production." ENDS |
